All Nations Baseball Club Poster
The All Nations baseball club was a barnstorming baseball team that toured the Midwest from 1912 to 1918. It was made up of many ethnicities including Caucasians, African Americans, Native Americans, and Latin Americans. Based in Des Moines, Iowa, the club was owned and also managed by J. L. Wilkinson and, under his leadership, the team had a reputation of playing on a level with major league teams. They had many notable players over the years such as Jose Mendez and Newt Allen. Due to many players being drafted into service in World War I, the team was disbanded. However, in 1923 and 1924, the All Nations club was formed again, managed by pitcher John Donaldson, but still owned by Wilkinson.
