Collection Historical Note
"Requiem Mass will be held at 9:30am Monday at St. Johns Catholic Church, Milwaukie, for Richard Leo Hennessy, 80, former vice president of the United States Lumber Co., who died Friday. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at Peake Memorial Chapel.
Born in Renfrew, Ontario, April 29, 1888, he was a graduate of the University of North Dakota and moved to the Portland area in 1942. During World War II, he was in charge of lumber distribution for the military, heading the Western states. He was a member of the St. Johns Catholic Church, the Knights of Colombus and a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by a son, Richard of Portland; a daughter, Mrs. Maureen Barnes of Pacifica, Calif; a sister, Miss Irmine Hennessy of Seattle and seven grandchildren. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery."
