Brief Description: The Charles Grantier Oral History Interview consists of one transcript of an interview of Charles Grantier by Robert Carlson on January 1, 1977. In the interview, Grantier reflects on his life and family history and discusses his experiences making pottery at the University of North Dakota, at Dickota Pottery and for the Works Progress Administration in Mandan, North Dakota. Grantier talks about the process of making pottery in 1930s-early 1940s North Dakota, describing the types of pottery made, the circumstances under which he labored and the people with whom he worked.
