Scope and Contents of the Materials

The Icelandic Emigration Papers consist of photocopied diaries and correspondence regarding Icelandic emigrants to North Dakota. The photocopies were donated by Bergsteinn Jonsson of the University of Iceland. Also included is documentation from the "Centennial Celebration of Icelandic Communities." This event was held in Mountain, North Dakota, in June and July of 1978.

All materials are in Icelandic, unless otherwise noted.

Accruals: Additional material was donated in 1978 (78-486), 1979 (79-564 and 79-613), and 1981 (81-723).

Access Restrictions: Open for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Elwyn B. Robinson Department of Special Collections.
