"Mrs. Irene Mares Boyd, last survivor of the class of 1889, died November 1, at the age of 91, in Jamestown, N.D., where she had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Carl Johnson. Mrs. Boyd returned to the University in 1948 for the graduation of her grandniece, Barbara Ann Smith, and in 1951 for the graduation of her grandson, Boyd Johnson. She spoke at alumni gatherings both times."
