Administrative/Biographical History
Vernon P. Squires was born in Cortland, New York, on November 4, 1866. He graduated from Brown University in 1889 (B.A.) and from the University of Chicago in 1895 (M.A.). He was a Professor of English at UND from 1897 until 1914. During that year, he was named Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. He served in that capacity until his death in 1930.
