Records of the Greenwood School District in Grand Forks County
Administrative/Biographical History
Greenwood School District 10, also known as Turtle River, was organized in Turtle River Township, Grand Forks County, in 1879. It comprised much of the northern portion of the township and part of neighboring Walshville Township in Walsh County. There were about 40 pupils in the first school. At some point, a new school was built in Section 3 of Turtle River Township. In 1960, Greenwood School District 10 became part of the larger District 130.

Scope and Contents: The Greenwood (aka Turtle River) School District 10 records consist primarily of three ledgers: a Teacher's Register, a Treasurer's Record, and a Clerk's Record. The Teacher's Register, 1892-1893, records attendance, student progress, and visitors. The Clerk's Record, 1929-1933, contains meeting minutes and financial information.The Treasurer's Record, 1930-1931, lists receipts and expenditures. Some loose documents, a report to the County Superintendent from the 1955-56 school year and undated financial information, are also included.
