Administrative/Biographical History
Mary Leake was born March 2, 1878 in Nova Scotia, Canada. In 1880, Leake and her parents moved to Fairfield Township in Grand Forks County, North Dakota. She attended the University of North Dakota and graduated from the Normal School in 1904. Leake taught at various North Dakota schools such as Petersburg, Niagara, Williston, and at Wilder School in Grand Forks from 1920 to 1949. Mary Leake died June 13, 1955, at the age of 77 and is buried in the cemetery in Emerado.
