Harrison A. Bronson was born in 1873 in Nunica, Michigan. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Dakota (UND) in 1894 and a Master of Arts degree the following year. He then attended law school at the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1901. Bronson returned to Grand Forks as a lecturer in the School of Law at UND. He also had a private practice in the area. His political career began when he was elected to the North Dakota Senate in 1913. Four years later, he served as an assistant Attorney General and then was appointed by Governor Lynn Frazier to the North Dakota Supreme Court to fulfill the term of a retiring judge. At about the same time, Bronson was elected to the Supreme Court and served for a time as Chief Justice. He retired at the end of 1924 and became counsel for the State Mill and Elevator in Grand Forks, serving in this capacity for twelve years. Bronson was also the author of four books on property law. He died 22 April 1947 and is buried in Memorial Park in Grand Forks.
