Collection Historical Note
George St. John Perrott was born in Stratford-Upon Avon, England. He graduated from Worcester College, Oxford, in 1878 and taught for six years in Brighton, England, before coming to the United States in 1883.
Perrott held a number of posts at the University of North Dakota, including Instructor in Latin and Greek (1891-1899), Assistant Professor of Latin and Greek (1899-1905), Assistant Professor of Latin (1906-1908), Associate Professor of Latin (1908-1911), and Professor of Latin (1911-1916). He also served as the University’s registrar from 1891-1892. He was still a Professor of Latin when he died on May 28, 1916.
