Abstract
Political magazine published in 1939 in Bismarck; designed to spread "truth" and "raise plenty of hell"
Administrative/Biographical History
The Debunker, a political magazine dealing with life in North Dakota, was edited and published by the Equity Publishing Company of Bismarck, North Dakota. The object of the magazine was "to publish the truth about such matters of interest to the ordinary people of the State and Nation, uncolored by political or personal prejudice or bias." The editors summed it all up by writing that "WE WILL RAISE PLENTY OF HELL, AT 25¢ THE COPY" (emphasis theirs). The first edition was published in 1939, on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the state of North Dakota.
