Danny Cooper attended the University of North Dakota, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in December 1979. While attending UND, he was a member of the Air Force ROTC program and was an avid University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux hockey "superfan".

Scope and Contents: The Danny Cooper Papers, 1977-1988, contain University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux hockey material. This collection consists of ten hockey scrapbooks put together by Danny Cooper. The scrapbooks contain newspaper articles, game programs, and individual and team statistics. The scrapbooks were kept in their original order. Also included is miscellaneous material, including information on the NHL draft and the 1988 Olympics, as well as two newspapers: College Hockey Week and WCHA Week.
