Ward County began educating its students in 1883, when Joseph L. Colton of Burlington constructed the first school house. Sadie Weber became the county's first superintendent in 1890.

The first is from October 25, 1920 through June 10, 1921 and the second is from September 25, 1922 through May 15, 1926. The books include details such as names of students, dates of birth, days present and absent, and the grade in school. There are also a few certificates of perfect attendance in the collection.
