Collection Historical Note
"Blanche LeRoux, 95, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, formerly Grand Forks, N.D., died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, in the nursing home.
Blanche Peterson was born Feb. 8, 1907, in Litchville, N.D. She grew up and graduated from high school in Marion, N.D. She graduated in 1929 from Valley City (N.D.) State University, then taught school in Barnes County, N.D., and Bathgate, N.D., before moving to Grand Forks. She taught in Grand Forks and Manvel, N.D., and at the State School for the Blind, Grand Forks, for seven years. She also graduated from Chicago Hairdressing Academy and operated her own beauty salon in Bathgate for 12 years.
On Sept. 1, 1931, she married Tennis J. LeRoux in Detroit Lakes, Minn. He died in 1989. She entered the nursing home in 1998. She is survived by a son, Dennis (Jan Kranda), Sabin, Minn.; a daughter, Rita LeRoux (Jerry) O'Brien, Roanoke, Va.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren."
