Scope and Contents:
The Emma Hovet Journals date from 1933 until 1956, although there are no journals from 1954 and 1955. The journals mainly consist of weather recordings, farming activity, events concerning family, purchase of items, and sale of crops or livestock. The scope of journal entries focuses on the Hovet family, with scattered references to the current events of the day.
Emma Hovet's grand-nephew, George Thompson, transcribed the journals and created a listing of relatives mentioned therein. Her grand-niece, Dr. Laura Munski, donated the collection.
