Administrative/Biographical History
Jack Mayfield was born in Louisiana in 1879. He moved to Grand Forks during the 1930s. He led a varied life and was employed as an entertainer, a masseur, cook, and a professional boxer during his lifetime. He sparred with Jack Dempsey and was acquainted with numerous 20th Century boxers. He died while visiting his daughter in Minneapolis in June 1986 at the age of 106.
