Collection Historical Note
Albert C. Baker was born at Whitewater, Wisconsin, 10 March 1875. He graduated from the University of North Dakota (UND) with a Bachelor of Arts in 1897 and continued his education at Kansas City Medical College, graduating in 1901. He began medical practice in Davenport, Oklahoma, and later in Spokane, Washington.
Mary E. "Mamie" Kingsland was born in Houston, Minnesota. She also graduated with a B.A. degree from UND in 1897 and taught school in Nevada, Missouri, prior to their marriage on Christmas Day, 1903, in Nevada. The Bakers had one daughter, Mary Catherine, born in September 1910 in Spokane.
