Flickertail Follies Records, 1926-1962, 1982
The Flickertail Follies was a popular variety show at the University of North Dakota from 1925 until 1962. The show was put on by Sigma Delta Chi, a national journalism society. A revival of the Follies happened in 1982, under the auspices of Blue Key, a national honor society.
"Like many inspirations, Follies was born with a familiar 'Why can't we do that?'" Roy French, then head of UND's journalism department, and undergraduates Armin F. Rohde and Charles Evans saw a show at the University of Indiana while they were attending the 1925 national Sigma Delta Chi convention in Indianapolis. They liked what they saw, brought the idea back, secured necessary approval, produced the show and it clicked. Follies number one in the old Orpheum Theater was the birth of a tradition."
