Scope and Contents of the Materials
This contains documents for various fraternities and sororities at UND, including some that are no longer active. Note there are manuscript collections for some of the campus fraternities and sororities with more extensive records.
Alpha Phi Omega, Epsilon Theta Chapter, 1947-1967, includes the chapter's original charter from 1947, a constitution from 1957, a scrapbook, correspondence, records of the chapter secretary, and an undated membership roster. Alpha Phi Omega is a national coeducational service organization founded on principles of leadership, friendship, and service. The Epsilon Theta Chapter was chartered in 1947.
Chi Omega, Psi Gamma Chapter, documents include the officer meeting minutes and bylaws for the Gamma Psi House Association (1915). There are also financial records, September 1933 resolutions, and a 1930 newspaper clipping as intramural basketball champions. In addition, there is an undated list of Chi Omega alumnae. Chi Omega became inactive about 1941.
Kappa Alpha Theta, Alpha Pi Chapter, was organized in 1906 as Alpha Delta. It became affiliated with Kappa Alpha Theta by 1911. The folder includes the petition to join Kappa Alpha Theta in 1909, bylaws, a 1918 songbook edited by Alpha Pi charter members LaBelle Mahon Stephens and Selma Hassell Lommen, articles from the Kappa Alpha Theta magazine, and a banquet program from 1987.
Lambda Chi Alpha, Epsilon Zeta Zeta Chapter, contains the 1927 petition for charter in Lambda Chi Alpha. The fraternity was organized about 1920 and named Pi Rho Chi.
The Beta Zeta Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity has its roots as the Phi Tappa Kegga Club, organized in 1904 by four UND students. In April 1906, the group formed the Bungaloo Club or Banded Brothers of the Bungaloo. They petitioned to join Sigma Chi in April 1908 and received their charter later that year. The folder includes the petition for charter, a Sigma Chi booklet (ca. 1960), a history of the Bungaloo Club and its members: 1904-1909 (ca. 1970), and revised bylaws.
