Scope and Contents of the Materials

The Delta Phi Delta Records consist primarily of four scrapbooks, dating from 1922-1954.  The scrapbooks contain artwork, newspaper clippings, newsletters, photographs, and pamphlets.  Also included is one 1929 publication of the chapter, entitled Indian Legends.  The text for the legends was taken from Collections of the State Historical Society of North Dakota, while the illustrations were created by members of Kappa Chapter.

Several pages are devoted to Paul E. Barr, including his obituary and pictures of his artwork.

Pamphlets from Minneapolis, including tourist and museum guides, area also included.

The final scrapbook contains charters from Delta Phi Delta authorizing the establishment of both the Kappa Chapter (December 2, 1922) and the Grand Forks Alumni Chapter (undated), as well as scattered issues of the Delta Phi Delta Newsletter (1943-1945).  Also included are photographs of Kappa Chapter members and art exhibits (1940-1946), programs from art exhibits, UND Honors Day Convocation programs (1942, 1944, 1945, 1946), newspaper clippings (1939-1946), homemade Christmas cards, and unpublished sketches.
