Text on the plaque reads:

Carl Ben Eielson, B.A. 1921



Arctic and Antarctic Explorer. Pilot Sir Hubert Wilkins' plane on eventful flight from Point Barrow to Spitzbergen. He lost his life off North Cape, Siberia, while attempting to rescue passengers from an ice locked boat.

Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends
