Scope and Contents of the Materials

The Lillian Bolack Papers includes an essay written by Bolack entitled "Pushing Back the Frontiers: A Pioneer Family in Rye Township, Grand Forks, North Dakota." The paper is 28 pages long and relates stories of Alfred Bolack's life as a child, husband, and father, along with his five brothers and six sisters, dating back to 1858. Alfred Bolack moved from Ohio to North Dakota around 1873, where he started a farm near what is now Larimore and eventually moved closer to Grand Forks.
