Ben Hur Lampman was born in Wisconsin, but spent his adolescence in Neche, North Dakota. After founding the Michigan City Arena newspaper in Michigan, North Dakota, he moved to Oregon in 1912 and had a long career in the newspaper industry there. He died there in 1954.

Scope and Contents: The Ben Hur Lampman Papers contain a series of news articles and a booklet written by Lampman. The booklet is entitled "Editorials from the Oregonian" and explores Lampman's notion of "loveliness in common things."
